Jackie Lu
Florida
Previous experience: B.S., University of Florida
Current role: Data Analyst at Tesla
Being a first-generation college grad has made me have a bias towards action... At Practicum I was glad to have recourse to the career program, where students review each other's resumes and provide moral support. It's good to not feel alone, and to have a group of people you can come back to that can share the same kind of struggles and celebrations that you have.

Pedro Giestas Gomes
Lisbon, Portugal
Previous experience: Finance
Current role: Data Analyst at Teleperformance
Pedro caught the attention of Teleperformance, an international company that offers business process outsourcing and consulting. They were looking for data analysts when Pedro sent them his CV and they asked him to do an assignment. Luckily, Pedro had already done a similar project for Practicum, so he aced the task. “They liked it and offered me a position there,” he says.
Jenn Foskett
Washington
Previous experience: U.S. healthcare information management
Current role: Revenue Integrity Analyst at Overlake
The Practicum curriculum really gave me a good overview of different experiences that a data analyst would have in a day-to-day routine. The portfolio of projects I was able to make was really helpful, and I found that really rewarding because I can actually show the work I put forth.
Xia Cui
Australia (Melbourne)
Previous experience: Researcher
Current role: Data Analyst at Capgemini
I started learning data analytics by doing various small courses online and realized it was the career path I wanted to pursue. In my search for a comprehensive, intensive, yet practical learning environment to develop and consolidate my skills, I found Practicum. I picked Practicum based on reviews, and I'm extremely glad with this decision.
Andrei Batomunkuev
Canada
Previous experience: — (the first work experience now)
Current role: DA extern at Mobalytics
I have recently graduated from the Data Scientist program, Practicum. It has been an amazing journey. I have gained so much knowledge and experience that allowed me to begin my career as a Data Scientist. Practicum provided a great curriculum since it covers everything that is in a real Junior Data Scientist job.
Rachelle Perez

Previous experience: Tourism sales -> Teaching assistant for a Data Analytics BootCamp
Current role: Associate Data Analyst at Spotify
My experience taking Practicum’s Data Scientist program has been spectacular! Frankly, I was not sure I would enjoy learning on my own but Practicum’s structure has allowed me to finally grasp things I have seen in other courses and Youtube videos but never really understood. Thanks!

FAQ
FAQ
Why Practicum? Why not a massive online open course (MOOC) or a college degree?
Practicum's bootcamps differ from MOOCs like Coursera and DataCamp in two important ways. First, MOOCs just teach you discrete skills, while Practicum prepares you for a job — that's why we emphasize projects and portfolio-building. Second, Practicum offers much more support than you'd get from a MOOC. Rather than just doing problems on a platform, you also get detailed feedback on independent projects, receive guidance from data professionals, and work with our career support team to find a job.

College programs, for their part, are much longer and much more expensive — they can easily set you back tens of thousands of dollars. Practicum's Data Analyst program costs only $1,250 per month.
What's the difference between data science and data analysis?
The two professions are closely related and involve some of the same skills and techniques. They differ in that data analysis is more focused on supporting a company's business operations, while data science is more technical and open-ended. A data analyst might retrieve data and build dashboards describing a company's performance over the year, while a data scientist might build predictive models to help the company hone its strategy.

Practicum offers programs in both disciplines. To learn more about our Data Analyst bootcamp, click here. You can also compare the programs' syllabi: Data Analyst syllabus and Data Scientist syllabus.

What if my background isn't in tech?
Not a problem! While experience in programming, math, or data would definitely be helpful, our programs are doable even if you're starting from scratch. If you need extra help mastering Python or wrapping your head around some math, our team will be there.

If you do have experience with tech, the learning curve will be gentler, but you'll still learn a lot. Many of our students are not first-time coders.
Who is this program meant for?
Practicum's programs are meant for people who are interested in changing careers (or getting ahead in their current fields). All you need is a computer and the motivation to learn!

As a part-time bootcamp, we provide a balance between structure and flexibility. For that reason, we attract all kinds of students: from retail workers to mechanical engineers, stay-at-home parents, college students, and more.

Though we don't have prerequisites, bear in mind that data analysis is a technical field, and it involves math and abstract thinking. That doesn't mean you have to be a math whiz, but if it doesn't come easy to you, be prepared to spend extra time studying.
Who are the tutors?
All of Practicum's tutors are professionals based in North America. They undergo in-house training where they learn how best to help our students.

They can answer questions about course material, tasks, and projects. Because they're working professionals, they know what's expected in the industry and can also provide insiders' insights to budding data scientists.

Our tutors hold biweekly group Zoom sessions, and students can also arrange one-on-one meetings. Plus, we have a Slack community where staff and peers can help with any questions that may come up.
Are you self-paced?
Not exactly, though we do provide flexibility. Our goal is to immerse our students in a real-life working environment. Just as you'd face deadlines at the office, we have deadlines for our projects, too.

You'll work in two-week sprints, a common industry practice. (Early sprints are three weeks to allow them time to master the fundamentals.) In these two to three weeks, you need to complete coursework on our platform and submit an independent project. Otherwise, it's up to you how you arrange your study schedule.

There are weekly live sessions with industry professionals where you can dive deeper into what you're studying. All coding sessions and webinars are recorded and made available to students who couldn't attend.

To be successful, you should expect to spend up to 20 hours per week studying.
What if I can't keep up with the workload?
The first and principal characteristic of a good and wise person is his consciousness that he knows very little, that many people know more and he seeks always to learn, to study, and not to teach. Those who wish to teach or direct neither teach nor lead well. — John Ruskin
Will I get a refund if I leave during the program?
Yes! Of course, if you've already gone through part of the program, your refund will only cover the remainder.
Do you have a money-back guarantee?
Yes! If you can't find a job within six months of graduating, you're entitled to a full refund. See Section 3 of the Terms of Use for details.
Will you help me get a job?
Yes! We offer a Career Prep Course on the platform, along with career coaching, mock interviews, the chance to work on real projects from real companies, and many other additional activities to help you succeed — all free of charge.

Practicum continues to support its grads after they finish the program. During your first months at a new job, you may encounter technical or communication challenges. Fear not, we'll be here to help!
Do you have an office?
Practicum has an U.S. office in Newburyport, MA. Our team is remote-first and works from around the world. Our live events and support are optimized for US time zones.
